Safeguards in Auric Reading
Things to Consider for Seekers and Practitioners (especially those in Training)
In my previous article, The Abuse of Karma, I discussed how important it is for readers to know if they have the skills, grace, and permission to read or facilitate for another. It is not about whether you can offer a service but whether it is right and aligned for you. In all cases, if it does not feel like a fit, do not do it.
In this article, I discuss the art of aura reading, the clarity and safeguards required, and touch upon the transformative power of true sight and connection. Irrespective of who may read for you, or even if you are a reader yourself – these are things always to remember if providing or seeking such a service.
The auras of all living beings extend into multiple layers of consciousness and, in some cases, multiple dimensions or realms. With some training, a person can see the outline of an aura, but very rarely does one get to see higher aspects, as these deal more with contracts, agreements, and so on within more subtle realms of consciousness that are usually under protection.
Being able to see another at this level of consciousness is a deeply sacred, transformative, and intimate for all parties. It can absolutely transform one's life and perception of self—for both seeker and reader.
A level of spiritual hygiene and safeguarding is required to ensure that your work does not disrupt the natural flow of the client's aura or open vulnerabilities that were not there before. The facilitator must also be able to protect their own space, especially if working with someone with a very intense or overly open field. We will discuss these points later in the article.
If you want to read a person's aura and they do not wish you to, respect their choice and walk away. Claiming their Higher Self said it was OK even if the person said no is problematic.
It does not work on someone who sees through the ruse, and the reader who transgresses will see impairment in their sight over time. The sad part is they may not even know it till it is too late.
For someone with strong guides, the consequences can be a lot harsher, especially if you have already been warned to respect the boundary.
The only circumstance in which this can be justified is in self-defense, i.e., you need to see the energy that is already maliciously invasive. People specializing in more defensive spiritual work know this to be the case, but few will need to work at that level.
Covert surveillance of another's life force without their consent is akin to the stalker who feels the entitlement to observe where they have not been invited. No matter how curious you might be about who they are.
For the more you seek backdoors into a person's energy ... the more you create in your own.
It is simply not worth it.
It takes a lot of humility, grace, safeguards, and steadfastness to read an aura accurately – and within bounds that make it safe for the practitioner and seeker. The same can be said for any psychic or spiritual work.
This is why it took people years (if not decades) of dedicated meditation, reflection, initiation, and intense training before they were recognized as shamans, medicine people, healers, etc.
In this age, it is too easy to confuse one's ability to see with the work required to see safely and accurately for all parties, especially with the additional layer of distortion that can come from technological platforms.
Here are several possibilities of what a reader may be picking up on when seeking to read an aura:
An accurate reading of the being in front of them
An accurate reading of what is being presented to them by their guides, the person's guides or protectors, external forces, etc.
An entirely distorted vision
An honest reader, aware of their limitations, will tell you if they cannot read for you or if they can only see up to a point.
A reader who insists on seeing things without permission will see something, but it is far less likely to be about the seeker in the first place.
Most of the time, what they see is a reflection of their own unresolved ego or developmental issues. Unless a client has a strong sense of self, this projection of distortion can harm their self-perception.
Even if you have consent, not everything you see can be taken at face value.
When reading for a skilled practitioner or a very complex spiritual being, you can almost always be sure that what you see is a mask or a distortion based on your own biases, desires, or limitations unless that person has, for whatever reason, given you access.
Even then, it may be a powerful projection on their part or their guides' part to make you afraid, give you a false impression, turn you away, or simply appease your curiosity.
Those who abuse spiritual abilities may also use the technique of projection to compel, misguide, or attract you in ways that override your usual behaviors. This applies to both seekers and readers, which is another reason a reader must be careful when opening their field to read.
Even if you have the requisite skills, never assume that what you see is precisely the truth.
What you see needs to be verified (if it is your place to do so, with informed consent) through observation of action, expression, and consistency in being.
Ensure that your interpretation does not come from your own biases, fears, lack of training or experience – or simply lack of access or permission.
The best readers I have found are the ones who take consent seriously and take their time.
They reflect on what they can do and whether they're being shown an illusion.
And when they are not given access or permission to know, they will simply say so.
No, I cannot do this – or – No, it is not my place to do this is honestly one of the greatest blessings you can receive from a facilitator who works with integrity.
This is why I also make it a point to very consciously ask for a person's permission to read their field while in session (if it comes up). Asking is an act of respect, and you will have a better understanding of whether this is your place to observe or not.
For observation is not a neutral act.
It changes you. Whether you are reading, seeking, or both, it changes you.
Sometimes, a person's aura may be so strong that it induces uncertainty or anxiety in the reader. Unless they are skilled in recognizing their own triggers and perceived limitations, this can lead to inaccuracies in perception.
It is far easier to blame the other when one does not want to admit that it might not be their place to see.
It takes a lot of grace and self-acceptance to see people who may have developed their spiritual sensitivities and awareness to a greater degree than yourself.
I count it as a blessing when I meet people like this and have the grace and permission to see what aspects of them are accessible to me.
Most beings like this will mask their auras completely. You will never know who they are unless they open themselves to you. Or if they have a reason to show you a part of their energy.
In all cases, no matter how far a person has journeyed spiritually or not:
It is a sacred blessing to be granted permission to see another, as auric reading is profoundly intimate and metaphysically transformative.
You never walk away as the same being you were before.
Finding someone who respects you as a soul can be an absolutely life-changing event, and in a good way. And not just by paying lip service to the concept.
Auric reading should never be used as a game or a playful exercise, as one has to maintain a standard of spiritual hygiene commensurate to the depth of the work. Even as part of training, clearing afterward and reflection on the part of the practitioner is essential.
The moment you open yourself to seeing another for who they are, you are also vulnerable in a certain way. Hence the need for safeguarding, and the seeking of aligned grace, permission, and guidance before proceeding.
Should you seek this out, remember these requirements.
Remember to properly compensate someone who takes the time and care to respect you and themselves enough to do this work with the required safeguards.
When it aligns, it is truly a magical gift to remember for all parties.
